It all started when I received a odd email that looked to be from my bank/financial institution. They claimed/said/stated there was something wrong with/a problem with/an issue with my account and I needed to verify/confirm/check my information.
Of course, being the smart/careful/diligent person I am, I should have known better than to click on the link/open the attachment/respond. But sadly, I was naive/gullible/unaware and fell for it/was tricked/got caught. The next thing I know, my bank account is empty/drained/depleted! It's a nightmare/horror story/terrible experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone.
I've reported the fraud/scam/theft to the authorities and am doing everything I can to recover my money/get back what was stolen/undo the damage.
